Come along to a weekly Advent Course on Zoom as we hear from three visiting chaplains sharing their Advent thoughts with us; details and dates are belowFollowing each Advent Reflection we will gather in small groups for discussion before joining together at the end of the session.  Everyone is warmly welcome to join us!  Please let Jenny Neagle know if you would like come along as soon as possible to help us with our planning and by 5pm on Friday 27th November at the latest. 01491 638433 or email


  Monday 30th November 7-8pm: The Revd Jane Chaffey, former School Chaplain, speaking on Advent Hope.  Jane served as Chaplain at Wycombe Abbey 2008-18.  She has helped lead services in the Valley churches  on a number of occasions.  She is married to Jonathan, himself a former RAF Chaplain, and is now living in Oxford.


 Monday 7th December 7-8pm: The Revd Ian Thacker, Prison Chaplain, speaking on Advent Peace.  Ian’s ‘parish’ is HMP Huntercombe, near Nuffield, where he has ministered as Prison Chaplain for a number of years.


 Monday 14th December 7-8pm: The Revd Matt Stevens,  RAF Chaplain, speaking on Advent Joy.  Matt has been an RAF Chaplain since 2010, serving in the UK and overseas with British Forces Cyprus and on Operations in Afghanistan and the Persian Gulf. Previously he ministered at St Laurence in Reading and St Mary’s Newbury working with Children and Young people. Matt is a keen cyclist, and is married to Beki (a primary teacher) they have two boys in secondary school.

All our services are open to anyone who would like to come, just turn up a few minutes before the start time.
We have a wide variety of service styles - the following key may help you decide which services would suit you best.

Traditional Services using the 1662 Book of Common Prayer

Modern Formal Services

Informal Services and those more suited for children

HCHoly Communion:
A quiet service without hymns or sermon. (30mins)

Valley Choral Eucharist - A monthly joint Holy Communion service for all churches with choir, hymns and a sermon. (1hr)

Oasis – An informal service of reflection and refreshment with music from the praise band.

MMatins: A service of morning prayer with hymns and a sermon. (1hr)

E Eucharist: A Holy Communion service with hymns and sermon; some churches have choirs, some use traditional language. (1hr)

IWInformal worship: A flexible interactive service with a band, modern songs and a talk or discussion. (50mins)

EvEvensong: A service of evening prayer with hymns and a sermon, with traditional sung canticles. (1hr)

MPMorning Praise: A service with hymns and a talk or discussion

All-age E - All-age Eucharist: A Holy Communion service with hymns and a talk suitable for all ages including children. (1hr)

EPEvening Prayer: A quiet,
contemplative service led by a member of the congregation. (30mins)

C - Compline: A short said service to end the day.

“CM/M”Church Mice/Monkeys: Sunday School for young children at Turville. Parents stay with children and join the church service at the end. (45mins)

    Family Service –  Particularly for families with pre-school and primary aged children -sing, make, listen, watch (45mins with refreshments).
